VARIETY RENTS OUT MELBOURNE MOVIE THEATER ROOM FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES & THEIR FAMILIES

MAY 2024

Variety hosted a sensory-friendly screening Movie Day for the Space Coast Early Steps Center at the CW Theater located in West Melbourne. Variety rented one of the screens so the children and their families could watch the new movie release, Kung Fu Panda 4 and just be themselves in a kid-friendly, non-judgemental environment.

Variety of Florida also gifted the children with sensory toy bags. The screening was a huge success, bringing joy and a sense of community to all the families that attended.

Space Coast Early Steps services are designed to support the needs of infants and toddlers with development disabilities and delays, from birth to age three.

"This was an awesome opportunity for families!! They were so appreciative and excited to take their kiddo to a movie!! Thank you to Variety of Florida and CW Theater for partnering with us to create such a memorable and fun event!!"
- says Shelli Buckley, Program Director at Space Coast Early Steps

HEARTWARMING TESTIMONIALS FROM PARENTS

Zaya's Mom expressed her gratitude: "Attending the sensory-friendly movie experience was an incredible opportunity that we are truly grateful for. The gift bag filled with wonderful toys was a hit with the kids and helped keep them entertained throughout the movie. The best part was judgment-free zone, where children could freely express themselves."

Dad, Antonio A. shared: "My son and I attended the showing for Kung Fu Panda 4. It was amazing to see the children all enjoy themselves. If kids ran around and wanted to shout, no one even blinked an eye. Parents looked out for not only their little ones but everyone's. I felt a true sense of community and can't wait for future events. Thank you to everyone who organized this!"
